The Grants Accountant will be responsible for the fiscal administration of externally funded projects including grants, contracts, and special projects. The primary responsibilities include : tracking, reporting and invoicing grant expenditures; ensuring grants budgets are properly uploaded and tracked; adhering to fiscal regulatory requirements of assigned sponsored projects. Position Responsibilities Perform post-award grant accounting functions according to the terms and conditions of the sponsor, including the set-up and close-out of all sponsored projects. Confirm the proper award payment type (fixed fee, cost reimbursable, etc.) Ascertain the type of award (contract, grant, cooperative agreement, etc.) Establish an appropriate billing and review schedule Track and review all sponsored projects for spending patterns and identify any deficit spending. Tasks include preparing invoices, billing, drawdowns, financial reporting on federal grants, balance sheet accounts, monitoring grant revenue and expenses Identify and research errors and process adjusting entries as needed Verifying the accuracy of the NOA and award profile Monitoring effort reporting process and cost sharing Calculate monthly revenue, fringe benefits and indirect costs for the monthly close and ensure the journal entries are recorded. Ensure all accounting functions are properly and accurately recorded into the college ERP system in a timely manner. Preparation of grant financial reporting and surveys including but not limited to : NSF HERD, SEFA, FFATA, and IPEDS.
