Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Inspect and diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment, ATS's, using a variety of tools and instruments. May need to reset and rack Main Breakers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment.
  • Oversee and work on utility distribution, fire systems, tube systems, as needed.
  • Perform non-destructive tests; collect and deliver samples for analysis.
  • Interpret engineering drawings related to layout, location, and operation of systems.
  • Report directly to the Lead Engineer, keeping them informed about project productivity, profitability, and personnel, leadership, financial, or legal issues.
  • Identify and resolve problems promptly; analyze information, develop solutions, and work well in team problem-solving situations.
  • Perform all work following established codes and safety procedures.

Qualifications and Skills :

  • Ability to handle high volume of maintenance requests via phone.
  • Proficient in tracking system data using computer and handwritten logs.
  • Ability to assist other sectors and hospitals within SLHS maintenance division.
  • Minimum of 3+ years' experience in a full-time Facility Maintenance role.
  • Technical degree in HVAC, Plant Operation, or Electrical preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HVAC / Metasys, mechanical, plumbing, plant operation, and electrical equipment.
  • Must obtain CFC Universal certification for refrigerant handling within 90 days of hire.
  • Class A Operating Engineers license is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with plant operations, fire systems, air handlers, boilers, chiller plants, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of emergency generators and ATS's for preventive maintenance and load testing.
  • Proficiency in chiller water systems, loops, and related preventive maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Valid driver's license; Class E for Missouri required.
  • No tobacco use; certification required to confirm non-use.
  • Annual flu vaccination required.
