Overview

Module Assembly Technician 2, East Providence, RI. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Module Assembly Technician will be responsible for soldering and assembling electronic assemblies and associated components per IPC and company standards.

Expected Hours : Full-time Monday to Friday, 6 : 00 AM – 2 : 30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Perform soldering, assembly, and inspection of electronic and electromechanical parts and components, adhering to IPC-J-STD-001 standards.
  • Utilize established techniques for wiring, installation, soldering, cable harnessing, etc.
  • Handle mixing and application of epoxy, conformal coating chemicals, adhesives, potting compounds, and other chemicals.
  • Execute soldering, welding, wiring, insulating, potting, inspecting, and other technical operations necessary for building soldered electronic assemblies and components.
  • Operate and maintain selective solder and other assembly-related machines and tools, as required.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to facilitate equipment changes, production set-ups, and resolution of equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform technician-level operations directed by Engineering, Quality, or Production supervisors.
  • Read and interpret drawings, assembly instructions, schematics, and procedures to understand the requirements for each project.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Design team to provide input on soldering techniques and contribute to product quality and improvement.
  • Conduct critical quality inspections and other essential operations to identify soldering defects and / or quality issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, progress, and issues encountered.
  • Work closely with the Production Supervisor, technicians, operators, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure work is completed to quality standards, following written procedures, and prioritized based on customer demand.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be considered a U.S. Person eligible to work in the United States
  • Technical school education or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of soldering IPC assemblies
  • Certification as an "IPC-J-STD-001" specialist
  • Experience with soldering techniques, including through-hole, surface mount, and rework / reflow soldering.
  • Knowledge of soldering electronic assemblies per IPC standards.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow assembly drawings, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of all soldering and assembly work.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey production-related information to appropriate team members.
  • Take ownership of production tasks by ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety while following company standards.
  • Proficiency in using PCs and various software applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) preferred.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to task management and project prioritization.
  • Possess a collaborative team-oriented mindset with a hands-on, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to keep workspace clean and adhere to all safety rules and company policies.
  • Willingness to travel for occasional training or certification
