Vocational Rehabilitation Spec – State of Oklahoma
Basic Purpose : Positions in this job family perform complex professional work in program consultation and monitoring; guidance and counseling; client training; and specialized job placement for vocational rehabilitation of individuals with physical or mental disabilities, blindness or visual impairments. Responsibilities include evaluating client work capacities, providing assistive technology services, and administering tests to determine vocational aptitudes, interests, abilities, and potential of clients.
Typical Functions
Education And Experience
Level I : Bachelor's degree in vocational rehabilitation, vocational evaluation, or counseling; OR bachelor's degree plus one year in a disability-related field.
Level II : Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or related field; or applicable master's degree with licensure / certification eligibility (CRC, LPC, CVE, PVE, LBP, LFMT, School Counselor, or Education Certification in Special Education).
Level III : Master's degree as above plus two years of professional experience in counseling, job placement, vocational evaluation or rehabilitation.
Level IV : Master's degree as above plus four years of professional experience; note : experience must reflect major responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
Level I : Knowledge of disabilities, case management, job placement practices; ability to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, and operate office equipment.
Level II : Knowledge of vocational counseling / evaluation techniques, assistive technology needs, relevant laws (ADA, Rehabilitation Act); ability to administer tests, analyze data, develop placement plans, and collaborate with community.
Level III : Similar to Level II with added ability to provide consultation to others.
Level IV : Includes project management and ability to train / guidance others in addition to core competencies.
Special Requirements
Some positions may require proficiency in American Sign Language. Applicants must be willing and able to travel for job-related duties.
Additional Job Description
Position may be filled at Level I, II, III, or IV. Location : Division of Vocational Rehabilitation in Tulsa (VR80).
Essential Functions : Caseload consists of adults and transition-aged youth; covers Tulsa / Creek County. Responsibilities include evaluating eligibility, developing IPE, providing counseling and guidance, participating in job readiness / placement activities, and maintaining records. Willingness to travel and possible trial period required. Preference for candidates with LPC / CRC / LBP / LFMT or School Counseling / Special Education credentials and related counseling experience.
