Summary :
The Equipment Operator / Laborer receives detailed instructions before and during work to perform a variety of highway maintenance duties. Caution must be exercised in operating highway maintenance equipment in order to prevent damage to equipment or injury to employees and the motoring public.
The position is not eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement.
Relationships :
Responsibilities :
o Mowing and weed trimming / spraying.
o Snow and ice removal operations.
o Patrol road to help patrons.
o Guard rail / hand rail, sign, fence, crack-sealing and other repairs as needed.
o Pothole patching, trash pick-up, clean bridges and sweep plaza lanes.
o Tree and limb removal when needed.
o Road debris cleanup.
o Clean and maintain vehicles, and clean up after assignments at the end of the day.
o Keep traffic flowing and conducting lane closure.
o Ensure proper care and cleaning of equipment as instructed by supervisor.
o Cleans storm drains, sewers, bridge decks, piers, and culverts.
o Assisting other departments in functions as needed for general upkeep and safety related tasks.
o Loads and dumps crushed stone, sand, and salt and other various materials from trucks.
o Aids in cleaning highway after accident and removes trash from roadside.
