Location : This position is full-time on-site in Dover, NH. The position holder will need to be within commuting distance (within 45 minutes).

Automation Engineer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Be a key member of a diverse team of professionals developing custom automation solutions for our customers complex challenges.Design, program, build, and test automated machinery to streamline manufacturing processes, ensuring considerations for workflow, production layout, and safety.Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials using SolidWorks Electrical (or similar CAD platforms).Perform load calculations, power analyses, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with NFPA 70, UL, IEC, and other applicable electrical standard(s).Execute signal-integrity and noise-mitigation troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analyzers; document corrective actions and lessons learned.Be a part of new equipment procurement projects by interfacing with outside vendors, developing engineering specifications, and drafting and reviewing qualification protocols.Creates and revises manufacturing documents, specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety instructions, validation protocols, risk assessments, and procedures and other technical documents.Develop timelines, scope of work, project plans, and cost estimates for development programs / tasks, providing timely communication on program progress.Troubleshooting of automation system issues to discover root cause and implement permanent solutions.Other miscellaneous tasks as may be assigned from the Research & Development Team Leader.Automation Engineer Qualification Requirements
Bachelor\'s degree or Master\'s degree in an Engineering discipline; Electrical, but other disciplines will also be considered.At least 4 years of demonstrated product / process development experience in an applicable engineering area.Demonstrated background in selection and implementation of automation control systems such as motion control, servo drives, vision systems, industrial robots, and safety-rated devices.Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent) for developing schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials.Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, UL 508A and IEC / EN standards requirements for machinery.Understanding of AC / DC circuits, 3 phase and single-phase electrical systems.Demonstrated ability to design, fabricate, and wire electrical control cabinets for automated machinery, including component selection, panel layout optimization, and adherence.Risk and hazard analysis using FMEA and well considered design reviews.Documentation systems; change orders, writing specs, quality systems, ISO requirements.Proficient in simple computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. with the ability to learn new ones.Air and motor vehicle travel (either in the US or internationally) when required (Equal Opportunity Statement : UFP Technologies, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer Minorities / Women / Veterans / Disabled.
