Job Description

Summary :

Seeking a highly skilled  Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)  to join the night shift team at a busy facility. This role will support various care areas, including adult critical care, the emergency department, and NICU. The ideal candidate will have  2+ years of recent experience  in a hospital setting, particularly in a  Trauma Level II and community hospital environment . Experience with mechanical ventilation, advanced medication administration, and emergency respiratory care is essential.

Responsibilities

Assess and manage respiratory conditions in acute care and emergency settings

Perform respiratory assessments, initiate therapy, and adjust based on patient response

Administer medications via nebulizers, inhalers, and other delivery systems

Manage BiPAP / CPAP systems and assist with weaning from mechanical ventilation

Collect and interpret ABGs; provide recommendations based on findings

Perform airway management procedures (intubation assist, suctioning, trach care, extubation)

Maintain documentation and patient records in line with hospital standards

Operate ventilators (Puritan Bennett, Avea) and ensure patient safety

Collaborate with nursing and medical staff for comprehensive patient care

Key Requirements

Must have recent experience in  Trauma Level II  setting

Must be comfortable with emergency response and critical respiratory care

Ability to work independently on night shift with minimal supervision

Proficient in standard and advanced respiratory techniques

Qualifications

Education :

Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program accredited by the CoARC

Experience :

Minimum 2 years  of relevant experience

Experience in Trauma Level II and community hospital setting preferred

Travel experience preferred but not required

License / Certifications :

California Respiratory Care Practitioner License – Required

CRT or RRT – Required

BLS – Required

ACLS – Required

PALS – Required

NRP – Required

BiPAP, CPAP, Ventilator Management

Troubleshooting high-pressure alarms

Weaning protocols

Medication Administration :

Albuterol, Atrovent, Racemic Epinephrine, Pulmicort, Xopenex, Tobramycin, and more

Inhaled steroids, nitric oxide

ABG interpretation

Basic EKG
