Under the direction of the EHS Specialist, this position is responsible for supporting all aspects of facility safety, including audits, inspections, incident investigations, and compliance with company, client, OSHA, and other applicable standards. The Safety Support Specialist plays a key role in the day-to-day execution of safety programs and initiatives, ensuring employees and management have the tools and guidance needed to maintain a strong safety culture. Success in this role requires close collaboration with staff, facility management, and the Safety Department to continually improve safety programs and procedures. Travel between company facilities is required as business needs dictate.
Essential Duties
- Works with EHS Specialist to support compliance with company, client, OSHA, and other applicable standards at all facilities.
- Responsible for conducting facility safety audits, inspections, and walkthroughs, documenting findings, and helping track corrective actions.
- Implements and maintains safety programs, plans, and procedures as directed by the EHS Specialist and Safety Department.
- Provides day-to-day support to management and employees on safety requirements, compliance issues, and general safety concerns.
- Responsible for assisting the Safety Department in incident investigations, case management, and corrective actions, including incidents that happen afterhours.
- Able to work collaboratively with staff and management to complete various Safety Department duties, projects, and initiatives.
- Promotes and models safe behaviors to help drive a positive safety culture across all levels of the workforce.
- Duties and Responsibilities can change from time to time based on business needs, customer demands or other industry or job-related circumstances.
- Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this position.
Education and / or Work Experience
High School (Minimum or Equivalent)EHS / OSHA related certifications AND / OR Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Ergonomics, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety-related discipline preferredMinimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial EHS role, preferably with a manufacturing facility, petrochemical facility, industrial service provider, industrial contractor or similarExtensive knowledge of General Industry EHS programs, regulatory agency standards, and regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA, DEQ, BSSE, etc.)Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Essential Skills
