The Dispatcher position provides oversight and implementation of the day-to-day operations of the Logistics Department. Includes organization of processes to assist in efficient workflows and utilization of assets, employees, and resources. Operates as a critical link between customer (both internal and external), driver group and management. Evaluates needs with regards to sourcing, allocation and product control. Understands the business implications of the decision-making process and provides solutions to ensure high quality service.
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Monitors fuel inventory levels at both company operated, and dealer operated sites.
- Coordinates equipment availability and maximizes utilization.
- Schedules fuel delivery and maintain required inventory levels.
- Establishes efficient business practices with the technology provided.
- Creates orders required for 3rd party carriers.
- Delivers consistent results with the dispatch team.
- Ensures accuracy for downstream efficiency.
- Communicates with suppliers and customers.
- Proactively recognizes situations and promptly solves problems.
- Understands process and works to fix at source of issue.
- Provides input on processes, procedures, or new approaches.
- Understands and applies principles, concepts, theories, technologies and standards of Logistics.
- Develops and applies specialized knowledge within Logistics.
- Deepens knowledge through exposure to new assignments and continuous learning.
- Knowledge of related industry considerations.
- Good working knowledge and demonstrated ability utilizing systems, tools and procedures to accomplish job.
- Builds deeper understanding of processes, procedures, customers and organization.
- Assists program or process development and implementation.
- Applies research, gathering, analytical and interpretation skills to operation of Logistics.
- Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate complexity.
- Evaluates and resolves data integrity issues.
- Interprets generally defined practices and methods.
- Recognizes and acts on inconsistencies in data or results and fixes the problem.
- Identifies driver issues and develops an action plan.
- Works on assignments where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making choices, decisions or recommendations
- Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment.
- Involved with local or business specific engagement initiatives to support overall improvement of the Logistics Department.
- Works under general direction.
- Work is guided by objectives of the area or assignment.
- Refers to established policies and precedents as needed.
- Applies discretion and independent judgment to identify when deviation from standard practice is required without prior approval.
- May set project timeframes and priorities based on project objectives and ongoing assignments.
- Assumes responsibility to improve service, efficiency and quality of work.
- When assigned to a team, actively participates on small to medium sized project teams in support of interdepartmental solutions.
- Knowledge of system development methodology, system architecture and analytical / problem solving skills.
- 3 + years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Education and Work Experience :
GED or 5 years of in relevant work experience – Bachelor’s Degree is a plusAnalytical skills with demonstrated proficiency with continuous improvement tools and methodologies.Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent oral and written communication skillsSkill Set
Experience with industry specific software – PDI, TelePoint, Motive, DTNExperience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePointPhysical Demands and Work Environment
