Job Title : Building Permit Specialist
Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work issuing and scheduling building inspections, providing customer service, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Building Official.
Shift : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM

- Schedules building inspections
- Enters building permit data into computer system, maintains associated databases, and produces various reports
- Issues and processes payments for building permits and advancement of capacity fees
- Assists applicants with building permit application process and requirements
- Ensures all required documentation is submitted with applications
- Makes copies and disseminates permit application documents
- Tracks completion of requirements for issuance of Certificates of Occupancy
- Performs Zoning Ordinance plan review for single family projects
- Trains and assists other Permit Specialists as necessary
- Performs filing and other admin duties as needed

Thorough knowledge of department programs, policies and proceduresThorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipmentGeneral knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmeticAbility to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speedSkill in the operation of word processing and personal computer equipmentAbility to follow oral and written instructionsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and associatesEducation : High school diploma or GED certification required, and considerable experience working in an office environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements :
Permit Technician Certification required on date of hire, or obtained within 18 monthsValid driver's license with a satisfactory driving recordPhysical Requirements
