OTA Automation Development Engineer

Job Summary

Our client in Allen Park, MI is looking for a OTA Automation Development Engineer. This is a part time contract position.

What You Will Do

  • On boarding : Laptop, badge, credentials, basic training to support system access started
  • Serve as a bridge between IT / cloud teams and in-plant operations for OTA software delivery.
  • Architect and deploy cloud-based OTA pipelines that support concurrent updates across multiple vehicle modules (e.g., ADAS, BCM, PCM, telematics, etc.)
  • Develop, test, and maintain robust update applications and scripts—packaged as standalone executables or containerized services that automate version control and validation
  • Integrate on-premises manufacturing network infrastructure with AWS / Azure / GCP services to enable seamless communication between assembly-line ECUs and cloud update servers
  • Coordinate with electrical test engineers to schedule in-vehicle or bench-top flashing sessions that align with production milestones and minimize plant downtime
  • Collaborate with diagnostics and validation teams to define firmware validation criteria and verify update integrity
  • Monitor real-time telemetry and performance metrics during OTA rollouts, analyze diagnostic logs for error codes (DTCs), and drive continuous improvement of update success rates
  • Provide in-plant support for troubleshooting update failures, performing partial recoveries, and executing manual recovery procedures when automated processes encounter exceptions
  • Implement and enforce cybersecurity measures for OTA processes, including secure boot, encrypted firmware delivery, and code signing to comply with industry standards (e.g., ISO 21434, SAE J3061)
  • Support all FP Meetings and provide status updates

What You Will Need

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or BS Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) or BBA or Associate Degree
  • 3+ years experience on Ford Motor Company programs
  • Understanding of GPDS deliverables and basic Ford engineering tools (JIRA / FEDE BOM / WERS / Bill of Material / AIMS / 8Ds / Part Sign-Off / GPIRs / FEDE DVP / Engineering Sign Off / DFMEA / FMA / Six Sigma)
  • OTA, Cloud Infrastructure, and Programming / Scripting Experience
  • Experience launching new vehicles on an electrical integration team and working with a Cross-functional team, including in-plant End Of Line (EOL) activity, assembly-line throughput, and safety standards.
  • familiarity with diagnostics tools, cybersecurity best practices and production-floor constraints is essential to guarantee that OTA processes do not disrupt assembly-line throughput or safety standards
