Job Title
This position is responsible for :
Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and / or deliver merchandise to customers; operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations; lifts, carries, loads and unloads variety of donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times; assists in performing work in the thrift store and warehouse. Receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
Key Responsibilities :
- Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location.
- Drives to the dump and metal recycling center to dispose of non-useable donations.
- Ensures the truck meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operators maintenance in accordance with established standards.
- Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and / or pricing; discards items in accordance with established procedures.
- Packs items in boxes and marks boxes accordingly; assists in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Ability to lift (or obtain assistance lifting) moderately heavy (30-60 lbs.) Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words, communicating orally with others accurately and clearly. Position requires travel within the community and to participate in off-site Center events.Employee Benefits :

High School diploma or G.E.D AND One year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van Licenses and Certifications : Valid State Driver's License.
