Description :

The unit has 20 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum rooms and 5 OB assessment beds.

Patient ratios are 1 : 3-4 couplets, with 1 : 1 for all active labors and specific interventions.

1 : 1-2 staffing for triage and early labor.

Unit includes a unit secretary Monday to Friday and a patient care technician on the same schedule.

An OB scrub tech is available 24 / 7.

Equipment utilized includes GE fetal monitors and Novii systems.

Documentation is managed through CPN and Meditech systems.

Scheduling requirements include the use of Timpani scheduling, with preferences highly considered.

There is a no floating policy in place.

Patient experience is prioritized with bedside shift report every shift.

The required certifications include BLS, NRP, Stable, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring.

Dress code requires shocking pink scrubs, with restrictions on other shades.

Unit guidelines and policies will be provided upon request.

Awards include recognition as a unit of distinction.

The unit is an innovation pilot site focusing on solutions that enhance nurse workload and improve patient outcomes.
