We design projects across transportation, education, healthcare, municipal, federal, commercial, and recreational sectors. We are seeking an Electrical Designer in our Akron, Baltimore or Columbus offices to join the MEP Team.

What You'll Do

This role focuses on the design of complex electrical systems across a diverse range of markets, collaborating with field staff, contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure quality and compliance from concept through construction.

Project types include : Federal, Justice, K-12, Higher Education, Corporate Commercial, Retail, Multifamily & Assisted Living, Hospitality, Cultural & Historic, Data Centers, Industrial, Residential, Military / DoD facilities and bases, and Wastewater facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design complicated and varied electrical systems for the listed markets.
  • Create and evolve system designs from concept to final construction document phase.
  • Perform analyses and apply problem-solving techniques to develop creative, innovative solutions.
  • Perform a variety of complex tasks requiring critical thinking.
  • Apply critical thinking to execute complex technical tasks across multiple project types.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; or Associate's Degree in a related field or 2-year technical degree / certificate (or equivalent). Demonstrated experience without a technical degree or certification will be considered.
  • 0-3 years of experience in electrical design (entry-level and early-career candidates encouraged).
  • Knowledge of electrical systems (power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding / bonding preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of Autodesk products (AutoCAD and Revit); power analysis software such as EasyPower and SKM is a plus but not required.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to review, understand, and apply local, state, and federal codes and standards related to design and construction of project facilities.
  • Ability to follow market-specific guidelines, practices, and policies of local building codes and the firm.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit; BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) are a plus but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
