Salary : Overview
Seeking MYP / DP High School 9-12 French Language Teacher who :
- Employs a variety of IB teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels in the classroom;
- Prepares motivating and stimulating lessons for French learners levels 2-5 to present global perspectives from French speaking communities;
- Demonstrates knowledge of High School French curriculum, IB MYP and DP Curriculum, and child development;
- Encourages an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of students to elicit a greater understanding of the world around them.
- Eager to work with students of all abilities in a French immersion public charter school.
Status of Position
This is a full-time position with Acadmie Lafayette. This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Reporting
The French Language Teacher reports to their campus / building principal.
Responsibilities
Communicates effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators and responds promptly to parents concerns.Utilizes a variety of assessments and student data to inform lessons and instructional activities.Actively monitors student learning and tracks student progress to develop support plans.Works collaboratively with colleagues to vertically align curriculum, plan interdisciplinary units / activities, and plan events as appropriate.Creates a learning environment that is positive and engaging, communicates clear expectations, routines and procedures for classwork, homework and assessments.Maintains a culture of literacy and inquiry through the use of current literature and other instructional resources that support critical thinking.Meets grade reporting deadlines and requirements and follows school-wide procedures for monitoring and providing feedback on student progress.Maintains substitute plans and engages substitutes in advance when needed and when possible.Continues to engage in professional development opportunities to update knowledge of content area(s).Engages in professional goal setting and review process with assigned administrator.Attends and participates appropriately in all divisional and departmental / team faculty meetings.Qualifications
Hold a Bachelors Degree or higher in French.Hold or be eligible for a Missouri Teaching Certificate or equivalent in home country.Have native or near-native level fluency in French and teach predominantly in the target language.Proven experience as a teacher; international candidates requiring a visa must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.Demonstrates strong classroom management skills or has experience or knowledge of Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS).Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate program, Middle Years and / or Diploma (MYP / DP) preferred.Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills necessary for working in a multicultural environment.The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and to meet deadlines.The ability to integrate technology to augment, modify, and redefine learning tasks.Other Requirements
Be willing to provide information for background check clearance.International candidates requiring a visa must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience and a teaching degree.
