Special Education Teacher (K–8)

About the Role :
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a compassionate, student-focused Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated K–8 team. In this role, you'll provide direct and indirect instructional support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide instructional support aligned with students' IEPs and 504 Plans in an inclusive, structured environment
Use research-based, multisensory strategies to support cognitive, language, and academic development
Set clear, measurable learning objectives and track progress across academic and behavioral goals
Serve as case manager for students on your caseload; coordinate and lead IEP meetings
Maintain accurate documentation (e.g., service logs, lesson plans, performance data)
Collaborate with general educators, specialists, and families to support individualized goals
Uphold school-wide behavioral expectations through proactive classroom management
Participate in standardized testing, ensuring appropriate accommodations are implemented
Contribute to curriculum alignment, data meetings, and professional development
Take on additional duties as needed (e.g., supervision, clerical tasks, etc.)
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Special Education (required)
SEI Endorsement (required)
Strong communication and data analysis skills
Demonstrated knowledge of IEP and 504 development and implementation
Proven ability to apply instructional best practices and manage a diverse classroom
Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback
Must pass all applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment
Reporting Structure :
This is a full-time, school-year appointment reporting to the Head of Special Education. Annual performance reviews are conducted to support growth and excellence in the role.
