Position Summary

The Executive Director of Corporate Strategy will be responsible for leading key strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects in collaboration with key stakeholders across the enterprise. This leadership role requires a blend of strategic vision, strategy development experience, and operational experience alongside exceptional leadership, communication and influence skills. Reporting directly into the EVP, Corporate Strategy, this executive will be responsible for executing a diverse set of projects and analyses to drive business decisions and strategic initiatives that address a diverse set of issues and topics across the BMS enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership : Leading key strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects as part of the overall enterprise-level effort. Ability to articulate strategic plans and decisions to all levels of the organization, fostering a sense of transparency and accountability
  • Decision Making : Accountable for making rapid and effective decisions that align with BMS's strategic initiatives. Must be confident in their decision-making and able to clearly communicate the rationale behind their choices
  • Market Research : Effectively analyzing and synthesizing market trends, competitive landscape, external landscape, etc. to inform strategic direction
  • Collaboration : Fostering strong collaborative working relationships across the various enterprise functions and their respective leadership (as needed) to executive the assigned portfolio of strategic projects and initiatives. Leads the preparation for key senior management reviews / presentations. Delivering strategy presentations to senior leadership and governance teams
  • Operational Oversight : Oversees operational aspects of strategy implementation, including coordination with staff on projects and ensuring that strategic plans are executed efficiently
  • Risk Management : Assesses risks associated with strategic decisions, keeping in mind BMS's reputation and the safeguarding of its clients and assets, adhering to policies, and applying ethical judgment in business practices. Partners with ERM team to identify risks and address as appropriate through strategic initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors required; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience; including 2+ years in strategic planning, strategy development or a related area (e.g., strategy consulting)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills effectively structures business problems; interprets data to identify insights and inform recommendations; leverages key matrix partners
  • Proven track record of effectively and efficiently driving performance within a matrix organization
  • Ability to prioritize work with autonomy, balance multiple major strategic initiatives simultaneously and drive results with speed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact with senior level executives

    Compensation Overview : $269,790 - $326,922. The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
