Medical / Surgical RN Job Details Location : Peoria, Illinois 61637 Estimated Weekly Pay : $1990 - $2130 Healthcare Setting : Acute Care, Medical / Surgical Unit (29 beds, typical census 22-26) Assignment Length : 13 weeks (10 / 27 / 2025 – 1 / 26 / 2026) Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM), 3 shifts per week Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend (Friday / Saturday for nights) Holiday Requirement : Rotating holidays Charting System : EPIC electronic health record Dress Code : Any color scrubs (no pediatric prints) Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or proof of application in process BLS certification from the American Heart Association Minimum 1 year of recent Medical / Surgical RN experience in a U.S. acute care setting Proficiency in titrating Heparin drips Flexibility to float to similar Med / Surg units as needed Negative drug screen (all panels) required Medical / Surgical RN Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses, including GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, congestive heart failure (CHF), COVID-19, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, DVT, pulmonary embolisms, and post-surgical recovery Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 5-6 : 1 during night shifts Titrate Heparin drips and monitor patient response Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including charge nurses, crisis RNs, patient care technicians (PCTs), and administrative supervisors Participate in shift reports to ensure continuity of patient care Initiate IV starts and utilize unit resources as needed Accurately document patient care in the EPIC EHR system Comply with hospital policies, including maintaining a drug-free workplace Apply now to join our dedicated healthcare team in Peoria, Illinois, and take the next step in your travel nursing career!
