Landscape Worker I

Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance of park grounds, athletic fields, landscaping, open spaces, and operates a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicles in the operation, repair, and maintenance of City parks, beaches, athletic fields, and / or open spaces. Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by some experience in parks, grounds, and / or facility maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and / or experience. Must have a valid Florida driver's license with satisfactory driving record throughout employment. Must have or be able to obtain first aide, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External (AED) certifications within three (3) months of hire. Certified Arborist, Commercial Landscape Maintenance Applicator, and Ornamental and / or Certified Horticulture Professional designations preferred, May be required to have or obtain additional formal industry certification(s) based on area of assignment. Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment. In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully. In order to move on to the next phase of the application screening process, you must attach proof of education. Applicants who demonstrate they meet the minimum requirements may be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not be limited to, evaluation of training and experience; psychological evaluation; polygraph examination; background investigation; medical evaluation; controlled substance screen. Applicants are required to sign an affidavit for non-use of tobacco products in order to be considered for employment.
