License : BLS (American Heart Association)

Certifications : ARDMS

Must-Have :

• Associate's Degree in Ultrasound / Sonography or Certificate of completion of Ultrasound / Sonography program
• Basic reading, writing, and oral English skills

Description :

Perform routine and specialized examinations in ultrasound.

Adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and / or therapeutic results.

Prepare patients for examinations requiring independent judgment.

Ensure an accurate and complete examination within established guidelines and policies.

Exhibit competency in performing ultrasound procedures.

Create images demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology.

Prepare catheters, biopsy instruments, and sterile trays as necessary.

Obtain accurate patient histories and explain the rationale for procedures.

Enhance image quality through appropriate transducers and machine settings.

Evaluate finished images to ensure diagnostic exams are submitted.

Maintain quality care throughout all procedures conducted.

Assess the abdominal arterial and venous system using color imaging.

Function with knowledge of ultrasound equipment operations.

Perform reasonable troubleshooting for equipment issues.

Report equipment problems through proper channels and document accordingly.

Maintain a clean work area and stock all necessary supplies.

Set up trays with sterile fields for the radiologist.

Assist the radiologist with biopsies as needed.

Order labs and pathology tests under the direction of the radiologist.

Support operations to meet patient expectations and needs.

Process images and paperwork promptly for efficient reporting.

Fill out all necessary paperwork to facilitate timely reporting.

Coordinate patient flow to ensure efficient care.

Enter patient information into the relevant systems accurately.

Maintain quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement programs.

Share knowledge and guide fellow technologists and students.

Display a professional attitude toward colleagues to foster a positive learning environment.
