The LSUHSC Cancer Center is seeking a Research Associate 2 (RA2) to plan, assist, and conduct laboratory experiments on the research project "A Mechanistic Study to elucidate the role of Protein S in elevating the risk of Thrombosis in Obese, Pre-menopausal women." The incumbent is expected to manage and perform general day-to-day lab operations including daily and routine maintenance of lab equipment and instruments and lab safety inspection and management. They will analyze, summarize, and organize collected data together with the Principal Investigator and draft, edit, and revise reports and manuscripts for publication in professional journals. The RA2 will also purchase and / or recommend purchase of lab supplies, reagents, and new equipment for research projects.
The incumbent must have the ability to travel to various clinics / sites with reliable transportation as they may be required to collect / draw blood from study participants, isolate plasma, perform immunoblotting and various coagulation assays using Spectrophotometer, and conduct protein purification using HPLC, FPLC techniques.
Successful candidates must be able to work with a high degree of self-motivation.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education : Bachelor's degree in Basic or Health Science or related field.
Certifications / Licenses Required : Certified phlebotomist or willingness to attend a phlebotomy certification course upon hire.
Minimum Years of Experience : 3 years of Clinical and / or bench research experience.
Substitutions : Master's degree with 2 years or less of experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience : Clinical and / or bench research experience.
