American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with VA or compact license and advanced SICU skills for a Surgical ICU night shift position.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) of a Level II Trauma CenterCare for trauma, CV surgery, neurosurgery, and other complex surgical patients, including TAVRs, CABGs, and patients directly from the ORPatient ratio is typically 1 : 2-3 in SICU and may be 1 : 3-4 if floating to step down, adjusted to acuity and skill levelSpecialized procedures include CRRT, IABP, Impella, EVD drain management, and management of open heart and post-code blue patientsUse of Epic EMR; Epic experience preferredNight shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19 : 00-07 : 00) with every other weekend requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesFloating within scope required, possibly to affiliate hospitals depending on volume or censusTravel pairs are not permitted on this unitTeam cares for complex, high-acuity surgical and trauma patients, including those recovering from open heart and neurosurgeriesCompletion of up to 8 hours of modules required within 1 week of signingNavy blue scrubs requiredFirst-time travelers are acceptedNo holiday time off (RTO) will be approvedLocals are accepted at the same rateReturn staff must be gone one year before returning as a traveler\n \n Requirements\n
Active VA or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent SICU experience requiredCurrent ACLS and NIHSS certifications requiredCRRT experience mandatory, plus proficiency with at least one of the following : IABP, Impella, or EVD drainAbility to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, arterial lines, and blood product administrationExperience caring for patients with acute ventilator needs, sepsis, multi-system organ failure, DKA, unstable GI bleeds, and trauma cases\n Benefits\n
