Under the guidance and supervision of a superior officer who is a member of the Police Division of the Department of Public Safety, the Police Officer is charged to render protection and assistance to the lives and property of the University of Dayton and its citizens. The Police Officer reports and investigates, where appropriate, infractions of university rules and regulations, state law, and city ordinances, in compliance with proper interdepartmental chain of command and state law. The Police Officer provides community services appropriate to the well-being of the members of the university community according to department policies and procedures. Duties include providing safety and / or medical escorts and other general services, including locking and unlocking buildings and rooms, to University community members.
