ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Reviews daily specifications on customer orders and communicates instructions to auditor employees.
• Oversees up to four auditors on a regular basis ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company sanitation standards are being followed.
• Ensures that employees perform proper hygiene and cleanliness procedures such as wearing hairnets, washing hands, wearing proper clothing and removing jewelry prior to working.
• Ensures production quality meets customer specifications and Food Safety objectives.
• Conducts two tests per bin which may consist of obtaining 250 grams of almonds, manually or using the QCify computer, and obtaining the number of defective almonds and foreign material within the sample and documenting the test on the Pack Out Slip – Almonds form, the Foreign Material Control Chart for Manufacturing and the Foreign Material Form in a legible and accurate manner to be submitted to the supervisor.
• Keeps tested samples to obtain a total of 40 lbs. of almonds for ePec lab work and inspection.
• Retains a sample of 5 lbs. of almonds for onsite Dried Fruit Association (DFA) lab testing.
• Sends two sample boxes of 500 grams to be sent to be inspected by DFA.
• Inspects machines and work area prior to day shift and at end of shift to ensure that area is in clean and working order and completes the Daily Pre-Operation Report, Shift Change Over & Preventive Maintenance Record Log, Team Hygiene Registration at the start of the shift.
• Ensures the metal detector card is run through the machine every two hours and documents the test on the Flow thru Metal Detection Checklist.
• Inputs data into computer once sample test is conducted, prints license plate number with the quantity, fumigation date and weight noted and places label on bins or pallets for tracking purposes.
• Observes sorting techniques used by employees, corrects errors and re-trains employees if needed.
• Demonstrates leadership and team building ability in directing employees on day to day operations.
• Creates a good work atmosphere and maintains trusting relationships with employees supervised and instills an atmosphere of teamwork and coexistence for employees.
• Demonstrates capability to perform quality control functions in other departments which includes being the Quality Control (QC) or Auditor when extra staff is needed.
• Communicates frequently with Forklift Drivers and Machine Operators to ensure process efficiency.
• Prepares work area for the next audit group by cleaning work area and reporting uncompleted orders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
