Position Summary
This is an entry level position located under the Southern Ute Division of Gaming (DOG). Under general supervision of the Gaming Investigator III, the incumbent works in coordination with other DOG Investigators to learn and perform Law Enforcement / Regulatory duties for the enforcement of Class II and Class III gaming on the Southern Ute Reservation.
Responsibilities
- Learn and perform Law Enforcement / Regulatory duties for the enforcement of Class II and Class III gaming on the Southern Ute Reservation, under supervision.
- Coordinate with other DOG Investigators and support the Gaming Investigator III.
Education and Experience / Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent.Must have successfully completed the approved basic police training course conducted at the Indian Police Academy or similar accredited police academy substantially meeting or exceeding the level of training provided by the Indian Police Academy or a respective State POST certification. The certification from such academy or POST must be active and current and must be maintained through the duration of employment.Must pass a comprehensive Law Enforcement background investigation prior to (or, as a condition of employment) to obtain the Special Law Enforcement Commission (SLEC).Must be able to obtain and maintain Federal Deputy Special Officer Commission Card within year of appointment.Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Police Commission card within 90 days of appointment.Must have basic computer skills in software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.Must maintain handgun certification throughout duration of employment.Must maintain a telephone for emergency and on-call situations.Must have a valid Driver's License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.Must never have been convicted of a felony or a crime of misdemeanor domestic violence in State, Tribal or Federal court. Must not have been convicted of or placed on a deferred judgment for any misdemeanor crime for 1 year prior to appointment. Must not have a restraining order or order of protection. Must not have any felony or gaming related convictions.Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical exam and annually thereafter.Must successfully pass a timed Physical Agility test during the first 90 days of employment and annually thereafter. The test will consist of a serpentine run, 150 lb. body drag, 3ft barrier vault, bed search, stair climb, 5ft barrier up & over, tunnel crawl and a lift & carry.Must pass a psychological evaluation prior to employment.Must be of excellent character and reputation and pass a thorough background check including fingerprints and pre-employment drug testing.Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Southern Ute and / or State of Colorado Gaming and Criminal Codes.Knowledge of the Southern Ute Tribal criminal justice system.How to Apply
