Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm with offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio that serves the private sector. The Site Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy environment on the assigned project, working with project management and field supervision to identify hazards and manage risk to prevent incidents and injuries.
Major Responsibilities
- New worker safety orientation : perform all orientations for all new workers on site; update and maintain the orientation presentation as conditions change on the jobsite
- Task Hazard Analyses (THA) : assist Pepper teams and trade partner teams with THAs; attend various crew THA meetings regularly
- Safety documentation : collect and file site safety plans, SDSs, THAs, toolbox talks, hot work permits, roof work permits; manage GPUP permits; crane lift plans, annual crane inspection, and operator cards
- Training and compliance : verify, collect and file training certifications; ensure compliance with OSHA, Pepper Construction, and client safety requirements
- High Risk Activities : ensure correct execution of confined space entry, hoisting operations, lockout / tagout, hot work, excavations, fall exposures, etc.
- Safety meetings and audits : facilitate safety pre-installation meetings; attend foreman's meetings and lead safety discussions; schedule and conduct project team safety audits and site audits; perform regular jobsite safety audits and document in SafetyNet or project-specific audit program
- Inspections and incident management : inspect fire extinguishers and coordinate recharging / replacing; complete incident reports and lead investigations with proper documentation
- Site logistics and liaison : plan safe access and exit routes; plan pedestrian traffic and public safety routes; act as safety liaison between Pepper and client representatives
- Documentation and software : enter all safety-related documents into Autodesk and other applicable online software; represent Pepper in safety-related client meetings
Requirements

The target salary for this position is $92,000.
