Overview

Location : FULLY REMOTE / Oakland County MI area. CONTRACT - w / Benefits PTO and Holidays. Hourly pay 60 / hr - DOE. Must be able to work without sponsorship or Visa.

Position Summary : Seeking a Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer to join our team in Oakland County MI area . This role offers the opportunity to work on projects across all phases. This is an excellent opportunity for a systems integrator with strong troubleshooting skills who is seeking professional growth within a well-established organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design automation control systems based on customer specifications.
  • Program PLCs and HMIs for automation and control systems.
  • Specify and select electrical components, PLCs, and instrumentation based on engineering principles and project requirements.
  • Develop electrical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software systems.
  • Design and debug SCADA and Data Acquisition Systems.
  • Perform power-up, debugging, and calibration of control systems.
  • Support the development and standardization of design platforms.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) OR 10+ years of relevant automation programming experience
  • Experience : 10+ years of hands-on PLC and HMI / SCADA programming
  • Proficient with major PLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, GE, Modicon, Emerson Control Wave, etc.)
  • Experience with HMI / SCADA platforms (FactoryTalk, Maple, VTSCADA, Wonderware, Ignition, etc.)
  • Industrial electrical experience including 480VAC 3-phase, 120VAC, 24VDC systems, and VFDs
  • Strong troubleshooting of automation controls (motor starters, VFDs, electrical components)
  • Knowledge of process control instrumentation (flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters is a plus)
  • Logical and systematic problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA)
  • Ability to read, revise, and develop PLC logic, HMI / SCADA programs, and VFD parameters
  • Strong attention to detail for maintaining accurate drawings, BOMs, and equipment documentation
