About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Must-Have :

IV insertion in preterm or term infants

Ability to work independently

Good assessment skills

Knowledge of symptoms of declining health in preterm infants

Description :

This position is for a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The unit has 6 total beds with 5 open bays and 1 isolation room.

Patient ratios are 1 : 2-3.

Staffing includes registered nurses and respiratory therapists.

Equipment used in the unit includes GE 650 monitors, Medela breast pumps, syringe pumps, IV pumps, and bili-lights.

Documentation is completed using Meditech and Centricity.

Nurses are required to work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.

There may be a floating policy based on patient needs.

Patient experience standards include adhering to AIDET principles and demonstrating courtesy and respect.

Key skills for this role include providing breastfeeding support and possessing strong communication skills.

Advanced skills required include the ability to care for and stabilize critically ill infants needing ventilator support, CPAP, UVC placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, TPN, and lipids administration.

Procedures performed on the unit include newborn resuscitation, intubation, umbilical line placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, chest tube insertion, and NG / OG feedings.

Uniforms are provided by the facility.

The unit has new equipment and promotes fantastic collaboration with neonatologists.

The schedule offers flexibility, including the possibility of block scheduling.

Candidates should be prepared for a daily huddle before shifts beginning.

There are opportunities for recognition within the department.
