Underground Superintendent Dry Utilities
Overview :
Studebaker Electric is seeking an experienced Underground Superintendent with 7+ years of experience in underground construction including heavy equipment operations, shoring, and trenching, with a focus on municipal, public works, and utility projects.
Ideal candidates will have extensive experience working on :
- Heavy Civil Underground Projects
- Shoring, Excavation, and Trenching Methods
- Electrical and Communication Utility Installation
- Production Rate Analysis
This Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing field operations, ensuring proper equipment and material deployment, managing safety and productivity, and maintaining detailed project schedules. The role requires leadership in managing crews, ensuring material delivery, and meeting production goals while maintaining close communication with Project Managers, Crews, Clients, and Inspectors.
Position Summary :
The Underground Superintendent must be able to work effectively in a team-based environment, communicating daily with the Project Manager, Owner, General Contractors, Subcontractors, and Vendors.
Responsibilities include :
Leading the installation of underground utilities, ensuring safe and efficient trenching and excavation practicesUse of a computer or iPad to communicate on a daily basis with all personnelAbility to multi-task in a clear and concise methodOverseeing the deployment and operation of heavy equipment and ensuring production targets are metManaging and executing shoring and safety procedures to protect workers and maintain structural integrityDirecting material procurement, scheduling, and delivery to meet project timelinesEnsuring production rates are consistently met and reporting progress to upper managementQualifications :
Extensive experience in underground construction, including heavy equipment operation, shoring techniques, and trench safetyKnowledge of excavation methods, trenching, and large-scale utility installation (water, sewer, storm drains)Proven experience as an Underground Superintendent or in a lead management role overseeing heavy equipment operators and ground crewsStrong understanding of production rates and how to adjust operations to meet job site goalsExpertise in shoring methods and safety practicesAbility to use digital tools for communication, scheduling, and reporting (laptop / tablet, Procore, Google Drive, HCSS, Bluebeam, etc.)Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage client relationships and collaborate with various stakeholdersCompensation :
$120,000 to $160,000 salary or equivalent hourly compensation (DOE)Benefits :
