About The Position

Hours per Shift : 36 hours per week

Must-Have : At least 1 year in PCU setting

Description :

Prescreening and manager review required.

Clinician must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing the contract.

If clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, they will be DNU for 6 months.

Radius rule is 50 miles.

Candidates may not be employed with any facility associated within the past year.

The float pool includes MedSurg, Tele, and PCU units.

Inpatients may also hold in ED.

Nurse-patient ratios are 1 : 4 in PCU and 1 : 5-6 in MedSurg Tele.

Common diagnoses include geriatric and orthopedic patients.

Post-procedural patients require care for groin sites in stepdown unit.

Experience with post-MI, post-cardiac catheterization, and CABG post-op day 3-4 is needed.

RNs are required to titrate drips for various medications.

Common titratable drips include Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.

Charge nurses will not take assignments.

Nurse aids will be utilized in all settings.

Certain respiratory equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP is used in MedSurg and PCU.

Monitors are available in the stepdown; nurses must interpret strips.

Shifts are 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM.

Schedules are made by a scheduler and published six weeks in advance.

Weekend work is required every other week.

Travelers must participate in holiday rotations.

There is no call or standby requirement.

Assignments are communicated two hours prior to shift start via text message.

Navy scrubs will be the dress code.

Shift flexibility is essential for travelers.

The charting system is Cerner.
