Overview
Events and Education Specialist - SASH@WHA / VHCB role at AmeriCorps. This position supports the Support and Services at Home (SASH) program at Winooski Housing Authority and serves residents who are elderly or disabled in Winooski Housing Authority or Chittenden Housing Corporation buildings and local community members enrolled in the SASH program. The role involves collaborating with SASH staff to determine which events and training programs will best meet the needs of the population and coordinating events with external presenters. Events may include fairs for service providers, education on identified needs (e.g., loneliness, diabetes, heart disease) and some social gatherings.
This position is part of the VHCB AmeriCorps program, which supports stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. It is a full-time term requiring 1720 hours (approximately 40 hours per week for 47 weeks). The member will receive a living allowance and an education award upon successful completion of service, along with health insurance, federal student loan forbearance, and various training opportunities.
