Responsibilities

• Installation and Maintenance : setting up and maintaining traffic control devices such as traffic signals, road signs, barriers, and pavement markings; includes installing new equipment and repairing or replacing damaged items.
• Traffic Management : implement temporary traffic control measures during road construction, accidents, or incidents; set up cones, barrels, and signs to guide drivers and ensure safety.
• Inspection : regular inspections of traffic control equipment to ensure proper functioning (signal timing, sign visibility, road markings).
• Coordination : work with municipal departments, construction crews, and law enforcement to plan and execute traffic control strategies during major roadwork or events.
• Compliance : ensure traffic control measures comply with state and federal regulations, including MUTCD guidelines.
• Emergency Response : respond to accidents or hazardous conditions to set up appropriate traffic control measures and maintain safety.
• Team Management : assist Crew Chief with scheduling and personnel management as a leader.

Qualifications

Required : Current Traffic Control Technician certification through ATSSA or TEEX and 1 year of traffic control experience.

Preferred : Current Traffic Control Supervisor certification through ATSSA or TEEX.
