Summary
The Boys Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is a dynamic organization that currently supports 200 staff working in 30 Early Childhood and Out of School Time programs with a large geographic footprint. We currently have a full-time opening for a Director of Safety and Compliance . This is a new and essential role, designed to strengthen our commitment to providing safe, supportive, and high-quality environments for the children and families we serve.
The Director of Safety and Compliance (DSC) reports to the Human Resources Director and is a critical member of the executive team. The DSC's primary role is to ensure quality in the areas of : (1) Club safety for all staff, members, and volunteers, and (2) professional practice development with Club Program, Site, and Center Directors. The DSC contributes to the strategic vision to ensure the organization can achieve our core priorities : ensure Club safety, invest in our team, and set the standard for Club excellence. The ability to implement effective administrative practices and execute administrative operations within an appropriate risk tolerance are essential for success in this position.
Specifically, the Director of Safety and Compliance will be responsible for managing the following critical areas :
SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE
The DSC is responsible for providing leadership and guidance in the areas of safety for all staff, members, and volunteers. Provides training, resources, and consultations to all club sites in order to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and protocols; monitors all BGCCNNH sites, prepares reporting and analysis of all critical incidents.
Duties
Risk Management and Maintenance
1. Works with the executive team to develop, implement, update, and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, Boys Girls Clubs of America(BGCA), and local childcare regulations.
2. Leads all regulatory compliance efforts, including the implementation of OSHA, Boys Girls Clubs of America membership policies, New Hampshire Child Care Licensing, and other relevant safety standards.
3.Provides regular on-site safety assessments with direct technical assistance to all BGCCNNH Clubs as needed, identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities.Develops and maintains a tracking log.
4.Proactively supports mitigation of risks and vulnerabilities through the development and implementation of corrective action plans.In partnership with the COO, provides follow-up on corrective action plans, including appropriate training as needed.
5.Advises on safety and security measures in regard to child supervision.
6.Sits on the IT Committee and develops procedures and trainings to ensure employees and children use the internet in a safe and secure manner.
7.Leads investigations on member significant (licensing and BGCA-reportable) incidents and injuries.Investigate repetitive incidents and injuries to identify root causes.
8.Monitors trends and provides recommendations for improvement.
9.Works with all teams across the organization to promote a proactive safety culture.
Resource Management
10.Develops and promotes resources such as safety checklists, newsletters, and training materials for leadership, management, employees, and volunteers.
11.Develops and delivers safety-related training via distance learning methods and in-person training.
12.Maintains records of employee and volunteer certification and training completion.
13.Works with Area Managers and Director of Operations to ensure appropriate maintenance and operations of the physical properties and equipment of the club, including use of the facilities by outside groups.
14.Responsible for vehicle security and Department of Transportation compliance. Serves as the primary point of contact for external safety agencies and auditors.
15.Maintains and updates SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and other documentation.
16.Co-chairs the Board-Led Safety Committee in collaboration with a board-appointed committee chair.
17.Other duties as assigned
Professional Practice
18.Develops a shared understanding of safety as it aligns with the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of BGCCNNH.
19.Assesses each BGCCNNH site to determine the needs in terms of safety.
20.Provides support, coaching, guidance, and training on best safety practices
21.Assesses the Club’s orientation process to ensure compliance with safety and works with HR, the COO, and the Area Managers on revising as needed.
