  • Primary Objectives The Advanced Practice Provider is a key line-level position responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.

  • PCI Employees are expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs and departmental objectives, as assigned.

  • Essential Functions Performs detailed and accurate health histories, reviews patient records, completes appropriate physical exam and evaluation, orders laboratory, radiological, therapeutic and diagnostic studies, interprets study results, formulates medical diagnoses and initiates treatment plans by providing direct patient care to a specified patient population.
  • Works with other employees and departments within Health Clinic to provide an inter-professional collaborative team-based approach to healthcare Conducts regular ambulatory clinic care and oversees comprehensive patient care of assigned patient panels including appropriate annual preventative health services, chronic care management and acute sick visit needs.
  • Consults supervising physician with patient care matters that may need further evaluation or physician involvement.
  • Documents patient care services by appropriately charting in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures as outlined by the registration agreement with supervising physician and practice guidelines.
  • Instructs and counsels patients on health conditions, treatment plans, health maintenance and general well-being.
  • Provides continuity of care by assessing patient needs and developing and implementing patient management plans including referrals of patients to the appropriate subspecialist, agencies, ancillary service or other resources of the community.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Complies with Standards of Care such as GPRA and IPC projects with Indian Health Services. (All other insurance requirements) Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
  • Maintains registration agreement with supervising physician and all that is required by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners Rules and Regulations.
  • Maintains state licensure and certification through participation in appropriate continuing medical education (CME) Performs research regarding updates to new services or technologies that will advance the care of the patient population.
  • Responsible for working in the Employee Clinic when deemed necessary by the Medical Director.
  • Plans, organizes coordinates, all aspects of patient care.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.

Job Requirements Must have one of the following :

  • a.Physician Assistant’s must possess certification by NCCPA and valid Physician Assistant License.
  • Must obtain State of Alabama Physician Assistant license within six (6) months from date of hire; or b.Nurse Practitioner’s must possess current national certification (ANCC or AANP required) with a Master’s Degree in Science of Nursing.
  • Must obtain State of Alabama NP license within six (6) months from date of hire.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) required.
  • Must maintain current professional licensure in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain licensure within ninety (90) days of date of hire.
  • Must possess DEA licensure and Qualified Alabama Controlled Substance Certificate and / or Limited Purpose Scheduled II Permit or be eligible and willing to apply for Qualified Alabama Controlled Substance Certificate and Limited Purpose Scheduled II Permit with the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and establishment of a Registration Agreement / Collaborative Practice Agreement with ALBME within ninety (90) of hire.

  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain certification during the first week of employment.
  • Ability to work ood and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
  • Core Competencies Required Absolute confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and the Privacy Act.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Electronic Health Records.
  • Basic understanding of procedure (CPT) and diagnosis (ICD-10) codes preferred.
  • Familiarity with the cultural factors relative to the care of Native Americans preferred.
  • Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Must be people oriented and relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Adept at multi-tasking, have unquestionable integrity, with an uncompromising commitment to quality.
  • Organized with unfailing attention to detail.

  • Compensation and Benefits The starting pay will depend on factors such as experience level and skillset.
