Infrastructure Engineer

As the Infrastructure Engineer, you will be a crucial member of our IT Infrastructure team, responsible for the seamless operation and evolution of our network and core systems. You will collaborate closely with various IT and business units to plan, implement, and maintain reliable and secure infrastructure that supports Vox Media's continued growth. Ideal candidates will possess a strong passion for both network engineering and systems administration, with a proven track record in project delivery and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
This position reports to the Manager, Infrastructure & InfoSec and is based in New York, NY, with occasional travel to other offices and events as needed.
What You'll Do
Network & Systems Infrastructure :
- Design, implement, and manage both networking and systems infrastructure solutions for Vox Media
- Troubleshoot network (wired and wireless), server, and application connectivity issues, providing timely and effective support to staff
- Analyze performance data and statistics for both network and systems, providing recommendations and roadmaps for optimization and growth
- Manage and maintain critical systems, including servers (physical and virtual), operating systems, and core applications
Systems Administration :
Deploy, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Linux server environmentsAdminister virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V) and manage virtual machine lifecycleManage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core infrastructure servicesImplement and manage backup and recovery solutions for systems and configurationsMonitor system performance, storage, and ensure high availability of critical servicesManage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across multiple platformsNetwork Management :
Configure and maintain Juniper switches, Aruba APs, routing protocols, and fiber connectivityManage network segmentation, VLANs, and traffic optimizationImplement and maintain wireless infrastructure and guest access solutionsMonitor network performance and capacity planningSecurity & Automation :
Define, document, and enforce security and system standards across both network and server environmentsImplement security policies, patches, and updates for both network devices and server systemsAutomate routine tasks using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to improve efficiency and reduce errorsConduct regular security assessments and vulnerability managementGeneral Responsibilities :
Stay current with industry trends in both networking and systems administration, identifying and proposing new solution optionsProvide training, mentoring, and tier 3 support for employees on network and systems-related issuesCreate accurate and comprehensive diagrams and documentation for network topologies, traffic flows, and system configurationsParticipate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure supportTravel is required up to 10% of the timeWho You Are

Pay Range : $81,000 - $110,000 USD
