Job Description

Precision CNC Turning Setup Specialist (Plastics)

Location : Wallingford, CT (Onsite) — Controlled Fluidics, 1262 Old Colony Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492

Schedule : 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 6 : 00 a.m. – 4 : 00 p.m.

Compensation : $23.00–$29.00 per hour, based on experience (full-time, hourly)

A day in the life

When you arrive on first shift, your machine center is ready for you to bring plastic precision parts to life. You begin by reviewing the work order and blueprints, confirming tooling and work offsets, and loading your program. As the first parts run, you verify dimensions, make fine edits to CNC lathe code when needed, and dial in the setup to hit tight tolerances. Throughout the day, you record IPC data in ProShop / Part Level, track time against the work order, and keep a close eye on chip evacuation and coolant flow. Between cycles, you promptly load / unload parts and jump into offline support work—hand deburring, bead blasting, sawing, scraping plastic components, and installing inserts—to keep production moving. You clean, maintain coolant, remove chips, and watch for burr development and cutting-tool wear so quality stays consistent and target times are achieved.

What you will do

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes safely; perform advanced setups and make on-the-fly program edits.
  • Maintain machines : cleaning, coolant management, and chip removal.
  • Hold close tolerances on precision plastic manifolds and components.
  • Follow blueprints and supervisor instructions; comply with Quality Manual, procedures, and training.
  • Enter all relevant process and IPC data in ProShop / Part Level during the run.
  • Accurately track time and meet “Time Against Work Order” goals; record in‑process part counts and daily time.
  • Load / unload parts at cycle boundaries; perform offline support (hand deburr, saw, bead blast, scrape plastic parts, insert installs).
  • Hit manufacturing target times; adjust tooling and work offsets to sustain quality.
  • Inspect parts visually and dimensionally; monitor for tool issues, burrs, chip evacuation, and coolant problems.

What you bring

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of CNC lathe machining experience.
  • Blueprint reading proficiency.
  • Computer skills for job retrieval, inspection data entry, and timesheet reporting.
  • Certification / competency with basic metrology (e.g., micrometers) and strong knowledge of measuring instruments.
  • Familiarity with G & M codes; strong understanding of cutting tools and holders.
  • Ability to multitask, manage time, communicate clearly, and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods; able to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Lift up to 35 lbs; use a material-handling device or obtain assistance for anything heavier.
