About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Engineer to lead our Transmission Line Group at either our Tampa or Orlando office. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll provide senior-level technical guidance and project oversight for complex high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead transmission line projects. You'll work closely with engineering and drafting staff while also maintaining quality, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and drafters in the execution of transmission line projects.
  • Serve as a technical expert for all phases of transmission line design, including :
  • Line routing and survey coordination
  • PLS-CADD modeling
  • Structure and foundation design
  • Clearance analysis and plan / profile development
  • Material specifications and procurement
  • Constructability reviews and permitting support
  • Construction support and field troubleshooting
  • Ensure client requirements are met for quality, accuracy, and deadlines.
  • Foster an engaged and collaborative team culture, where input is encouraged and valued.
  • Assign and oversee project work across team members to maximize efficiency and performance.
  • Review and approve detailed engineering submittals.
  • Interface regularly with clients and internal teams (Substation, Environmental, Real Estate, Construction).
  • Estimate project scopes, assist in proposal development, and support business growth.
  • Maintain safety compliance and promote a safe working environment at all times.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
  • 10+ years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required)
  • Extensive PLS-CADD experience (required)
  • Deep knowledge of applicable design codes and standards, including :
  • NESC, IEEE, ASCE, ACI
  • Experience coordinating across multiple disciplines and stakeholders (substation, environmental, real estate, etc.)
  • Proven project management capabilities
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment
  • Must pass drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record (MVR)
