Dredge Captain

The Dredge Captain is ultimately responsible for the dredge, the dredge crew, and the daily operation and function of the dredge. This position works closely with the project manager and shoreside staff on planning, daily reporting, crewing, strategizing, and overall project logistics. The dredge captain is responsible for performance of the dredge and how to effectively use resources to make sure schedule and production are driven to accomplish project goals.

Responsible for all dredging operations of assigned dredge including :

• Lead the mobilization and demobilization of the dredge for projects including critical path planning for timelines, necessary parts / consumables, preparing the barge to be towed, etc.
• Assist with coordination of site logistics and various moving parts to maximize efficiency and safe operations including tugboats, crew changes, scow timing, etc.
• Foster an environment on the dredge of critical thinking relating to safety, efficiencies and production and constantly work to refine and streamline all operations
• Work with Project Manager for daily and long-term digging plans and follow up daily on the project's progress to adapt dredging operations accordingly
• Comply with all relevant regulations concerning dredge operation
