Structures Inspector - High Speed Rail (Selma, CA) – Arcadis
Arcadis seeks a Structures Inspector to join the team in Selma, CA. The role involves field construction inspections to ensure materials and workmanship conform to approved plans and specifications. Must be able to work onsite in Selma, CA.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, field design changes, and other change notices impacting field work. Ensure construction staff uses the latest construction documents.
- Review all approved submittals and verify approvals are incorporated into the work.
- Conduct visual inspections of the work per project standards.
- Prepare and publish a running quality punch list; participate in weekly progress meetings.
- Participate in developing a Work Plan for distinct work elements.
- Coordinate and document testing data with 3rd party laboratories and on-site personnel.
- Perform quality control inspections across the four phases : plan, initial, daily follow-up, and close-out inspections.
- Maintain records of quality testing (e.g., pipe pressure testing, soil density, concrete breaks) and include them in monthly reports.
- Prepare and participate in deficiency reporting (NCRs) and maintain project deficiency / noncompliance logs.
- Quantify work performed and maintain documentation; keep project logs of testing and activity, identifying trends for potential deficiencies.
- Take and file photographs documenting work (daily) and prepare a comprehensive Daily Inspection Report (DIR).
Qualifications
Required
10+ years of experience in Transportation Construction InspectionCaltrans and / or California transportation inspection experienceBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and educationPreferred
OHSA 10 or 30 safety trainingKey Skills & Attributes
Establish and maintain open communication with contractor management, other agencies, and the public to resolve contract-related issuesValid Driver's License required for operating a company vehicleKnowledge of construction materials, civil engineering mathematics, methods, materials, and equipment; reviewing drawings and specificationsRFIs, Submittals, change notices; ensure staff uses latest documentsStrong written communication; prepare clear reports and retain accurate daily site activity recordsAbility to take appropriate action in all situations and adapt to changing conditionsProficiency with Excel, Word, and other engineering softwareAbout Arcadis
