Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring a ND or compact RN license and current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

Work in the ICU of an acute care critical access hospital

Unit has 4 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 2-3 depending on acuity

Night shifts are 12 hours, 7 PM to 7 AM, with weekends and holidays as needed

Patient population includes DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac cases, medical detox, art lines, and CVP

RNs are required to titrate a variety of drips typical of ICU care

RN is responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips

Equipment includes nasal cannula to vent and the use of Meditech EMR

Floating to Med-Surg or ER (for 1 : 1) is required

RNs must be capable of coaching, teamwork, and identifying unsafe situations

There is no charge nurse assigned; the ER is in charge of ICU

No nurse aides or patient care techs are present on the unit

Navy scrubs are required for this assignment

Up to 3 days (12-hour shifts) of department-specific orientation provided

Travelers are first to float as needed

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Candidates cannot have been employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year

Requested time off must be submitted up front and is limited to 7 days or less per 13-week contract

Requirements

Active ND or compact RN license required at the time of consideration

Minimum 1 year of ICU RN experience required

Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required

TNCC, TCAR, or demonstrated experience with the care of trauma patients required

Ability to pass fit testing; facial hair must not interfere with respirator fit

Professional references : one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years required

Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
