An established environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join its leadership team. This position plays a key role in driving financial discipline, leading project accounting efforts, and supporting strategic business decisions. Reporting directly to the President, the Senior Project Accountant will be a proactive partner across departments, contributing to operational efficiency and long-term growth.

About the Role

As a Senior Project Accountant , you'll lead and consolidate accounting responsibilities currently shared across various roles. The right candidate brings leadership, accuracy, and an ability to implement structure across corporate and project accounting functions. This strategic-level role is essential to supporting decision-making and financial transparency.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and present the monthly Ownership Dashboard, including key financial, project, and sales KPIs.
• Oversee full-cycle accounting, including income statements (accrual and cash basis), balance sheets, cash flow, and budgets.
• Manage accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, and days sales outstanding (DSO) performance.
• Supervise accounts payable, invoice approvals, and payment processing.
• Reconcile multiple bank accounts and manage journal entries, amortization schedules, and month-end closing.
• Execute semi-monthly payroll, handle payroll tax filings, and manage unemployment tax reporting.
• Administer vendor contracts and ensure issuance of 1099s, while maintaining compliance with IRS and state tax requirements.
• Support project managers with financial analysis, budgeting, and profit tracking at the project level.
• Assist with contract administration, property tax filings, and contribute to real estate entity bookkeeping.
• Play a leadership role in an upcoming accounting system upgrade and support cross-departmental initiatives as needed.
