NCBHC - Minot, ND - Triage Specialist

Be part of the solution to the behavioral health crisis. As a team member for ND Department of Health & Human Services, you will ensure the most vulnerable have access to a high-quality healthcare system in which prevention works, treatment is effective, and people recover.

As a Triage Specialist , you will provide immediate services to individuals walking into the local Behavioral Health Clinic requesting services. You will provide initial assessment of complex situations related to behavioral health disorders. You will complete screening and assessments, and complete referrals based on those assessments. You will also provide short-term case management and crisis intervention services. You will conduct crisis stabilization or therapeutic intervention to mitigate crisis situations, develop safety plans for individuals at risk, and assist individuals in obtaining appropriate services, either within or outside agency. This position also provides support to the other regions as needed via telehealth platforms.

To be considered for the Triage Specialist position , you are required to have licensure as a Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW) by the North Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners (NDCC 43-41); and two years of professional human services work experience as a social worker, human relations counselor, developmental disabilities case manager, mental illness case manager, vocational rehabilitation counselor, activity therapist, addiction counselor, registered nurse, employment counselor, or a similar professional level position in the public or private sector. OR a master's degree in social work and licensure as a Licensed Social Worker by the ND Board of Social Work Examiners.

Will consider filling as a B Mod with a reduced starting salary.

  • A B Mod requires a bachelor's degree in psychology, behavioral health (psychology track), social work, counseling, education, child development and family science or communication disorders and two years of work experience in the respective discipline. The work experience must be in a professional setting and supervised by a licensed practitioner in a related field, OR a master's degree in one of the above fields.

Behavior Modification Attestation Form may be required based on degree and / or licensure.

This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of the assigned defensive driving course during new-hire orientation.

Location : ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position provides essential client services face to face and therefore the person in this position needs to be able to travel to meet clients at their location. Telehealth options are available on an as needed basis.
