Overview
Geotechnical Engineer – Civil Engineer focused on geotechnical aspects. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects from concept to design and implementation, with responsibilities across excavation, foundation design, material testing, data analysis, mitigation strategies, soil mechanics, groundwater studies, and industrial remediation.
Base pay
$120,000.00 / yr - $150,000.00 / yr
Responsibilities
- Carry out complex geotechnical and geo-environmental investigations, including site reconnaissance, drilling supervision, sample collection, and in-situ testing.
- Design and evaluate foundations and earth structures such as embankments, tunnels, and retaining walls.
- Perform geotechnical analysis and design tasks using various software tools.
- Conduct laboratory testing of soil and rock samples and interpret results to determine physical and mechanical properties.
- Develop geotechnical models from field and laboratory data to predict soil and rock behavior.
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies for geotechnical risks (e.g., landslides, soil liquefaction, ground subsidence).
- Undertake groundwater studies and develop remediation plans for contaminated sites.
- Prepare technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and coordinate with contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus.Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience with focus on the areas listed in responsibilities.Professional Engineer (PE) license.Proficiency in geotechnical software tools, such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or equivalent.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear technical reports and presentations.Strong safety commitment and proactive geotechnical risk mitigation.Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.About the company
