Description :
Under general supervision and following established procedures, operates CT equipment to acquire images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.
Staff will be required to float among various clinics and divisions as needed.
Operates CT equipment to obtain diagnostic images and information according to departmental protocol.
Ensures the patient is properly prepared, positioned, immobilized, and uses protective shielding as needed.
Selects proper imaging factors and images the designated portion(s) of the body.
Explains the exam to the patient, taking into consideration physical and emotional needs while maintaining ethical standards.
Delivers patient care within the scope of license and training.
Maintains effective working relationships and communication with departmental and other personnel.
Calibrates and verifies the operation of all equipment used during the workday.
Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed.
Executes necessary paperwork and functions within the Radiology Information System for each patient exam.
Performs venipuncture for purposes of contrast administration under the direction of a radiologist, following all hospital policies and procedures.
Attends staff meetings and in-services and maintains appropriate continuing education units as per licensure requirements.
May oversee and instruct various personnel and technology students within the department.
Prepares the equipment room and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use.
Stocks and supplies the room as needed.
Participates in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects within the department.
Assumes responsibilities for on-call coverage and remains flexible in shift coverage and circumstances requiring overtime.
Rotates within departments and all off-site clinics as required.
Cooperates with all personnel, promoting harmony within the department.
Transports and transfers patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines.
Uses independent judgment and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations when performing patient exams.
Performs all other duties as directed.
Must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Possesses a current Radiologic Technologist license.
Registered in CT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent is required.
2-3 years experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred with at least one year in cross-sectional anatomy courses.
Must have sufficient interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under physical or emotional stress.
Possesses analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, and procedures, and cross-sectional anatomy.
