Position Summary
A Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This role ensures systems comply with local, state, and national fire codes and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure fire alarm systems including panels, detectors, pull stations, strobes, and horns.
- Perform routine inspections and testing of fire alarm systems per NFPA 72 standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty wiring, devices, and control panels.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Program fire alarm panels and integrate with other life safety systems (e.g., sprinklers, access control).
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, service calls, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with local fire codes and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and inspectors.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; technical training or associate degree preferred.NICET certification (Level I or higher) in Fire Alarm Systems is a plus.Valid drivers license and clean driving record.Familiarity with fire alarm brands such as Honeywell, Notifier, Siemens, or Simplex.Ability to use hand tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.Strong understanding of electrical systems and low-voltage wiring.Skills & Competencies
