Job Description
The Assistant Director provides leadership and direction in support of the intensive advising needs for students in academic recovery, who are not meeting university academic standards, and / or who are in jeopardy of falling below academic standards. The Assistant Director develops and implements the advising approach for this target student population through coordinated advising initiatives, proactive monitoring of student and service capacity data, evaluation of services, and continuous improvement reviews.
The Assistant Director maintains a caseload of students, while supervising the academic recovery advising team and providing subject matter expert guidance to campus partners as complex situations require.
Additionally, the Assistant Director collaborates with the Assistant Director for Undecided Advising to ensure that the University Advising Center (UAC) continues its mission as the University's advising hub for "just in time" support, while collaborating with the overall UAC team to support students who are not making progress needed to earn credit and / or stay on track for graduation.
A member of the University Advising leadership team, the Assistant Director provides feedback and consultation on academic advising related policies, practices, and procedures. The Assistant Director offers broad understanding and knowledge about the university's academic programs, university academic policy and procedures, advising tools, and campus resources and referral processes, as well as specific understanding of university academic and financial standing requirements.

Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

The salary range denoted above is the contractual range; however, salary upon hire is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
