Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department for accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger accounting. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processes and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. In conjunction with other senior finance staff, the accounting manager will assist in optimizing process performance. This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct accounting team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise accounting team members in accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger accounting functions, providing guidance for day-to-day operations
- Assist with month end close process by reviewing supporting documentation to ensure all transactions are correctly stated and adhere to GAAP
- Strengthen and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
- Assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures
- Coordinate with senior finance staff to enhance opportunities for accounting team professional development
- Provide training to accounting team members and across the organization as needed
- Participate in the development and implementation of changes to key processing systems
- Prepare and organize audit schedules, financial documentation, and reconciliations for external auditors
- Assist with filings for local, state, and federal taxes
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field requiredA minimum of ten years of progressive finance, analysis, and leadership experience required, with a minimum of five years of direct supervisory experiencePrior experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or another project-based ERP system preferredIntermediate to advanced skill level using Excel and proficient in all other Microsoft productsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence othersComfortable presenting information to all levels of the companyStrong organizational and time management skillsMust be accurate and detail orientedRelies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsFocus on continuous improvements with a proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problemsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsRequires sufficient English skills to understand and compose correspondence, proofread documents, and effectively communicate with internal staff and clientsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsDriving is an essential job function or a valid driver's license is required to support legitimate business purposes.Physical Demands and Work Environment
