Nursing Tutor
Accepting Applications for Academic Year 2025-2026
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Nursing Tutors to provide academic support and guidance to BHSON nursing students. The successful candidate will work closely with students to enhance their understanding of nursing concepts, improve clinical skills, and prepare for examinations. This role requires a passion for education, strong clinical knowledge, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. Positions may consist of day, evening, or weekend hours and may be at BHSON or online. The tutor will set their hours and availability.
Academic Support & Instruction
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions for nursing students across various levels of study;
- Assist students with understanding complex nursing and nursing related concepts and procedures;
- Review and explain course materials, resources, and clinical skills; and
- Help students develop effective study strategies, time management, and test-taking skills.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
Evaluate student progress and identify areas requiring additional support;Develop individualized learning plans based on student needs and learning styles;Maintain detailed records of tutoring sessions and student progress;Collaborate with faculty to ensure alignment with curriculum objectives; andProvide regular progress reports to students and academic advisors.Student Support & Mentoring
Offer emotional support and encouragement to students facing academic challenges;Help students develop confidence in their nursing abilities and professional identity;Provide guidance on career paths and professional development opportunities; andAssist with stress management and coping strategies for demanding coursework.Job Requirements :
Graduate of Brockton Hospital School of Nursing within the past 5 years;Current, unrestricted RN license in good standing;Strong knowledge of nursing fundamentals, pediatrics, maternity, med-surg, and mental health, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and clinical practices;Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;Patience and ability to work with students of varying skill levels; andProficiency in educational technology and online learning platforms.Previous tutoring, teaching, or educational experience preferred.Essential Skills & Attributes :
Strong clinical knowledge across multiple nursing specialties;Ability to explain complex concepts in clear, understandable terms;Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles;Excellent organizational and time management skills;Empathy and understanding of student challenges; andProfessional demeanor and ethical conduct.Application Process :

Position Status :
Part-time, non-benefited position. This position is subject to grant funding and is contingent upon availability of funds.
Hours : Up to 8 hours per week, 1 week prior to semester start, 15 weeks in-semester, plus final exam week. Hours will vary (not to exceed 272 hours per academic year).
