Viterbo University invites applications for a unique dual-role position : Non-Tenure Track Nursing Faculty & Health Service Nurse. This role combines the best of both worlds, teaching and mentoring future nurses in our respected School of Nursing while providing care through our on-campus Health Services.
As a faculty member, you'll collaborate with colleagues to deliver evidence-based teaching, uphold program quality, and maintain accreditation standards that ensure excellence in nursing education. As the Health Service Nurse, you'll play a vital role in enhancing the student experience by supporting wellness, reducing health-related barriers to learning, and empowering our campus community to make informed decisions about their health.

This is a full-time, 9-month position and workload will be divided 50% with School of Nursing (SoN) duties and 50% with Health Services duties. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health & Director of Counseling and Health Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
General

Teaching
Accepts accountability for facilitating effective teaching / learning activities in the didactic, simulation, and / or clinical settingsPrepares and updates content and syllabi for assigned courses according to SoN curricular plans and program student learning outcomesDemonstrates expertise in developing, conducting, and evaluating essential learning experiences within the didactic, simulation, and / or clinical settingsConducts course assessment activities to evaluate effectiveness and enhance student learningMakes recommendations for resource acquisitionsService
Shares talents as a resource person / mentor to colleagues and / or studentsParticipates in professional, SoN, and university activitiesParticipates in one to two days of practice / week-50% of duties assigned by the student health services manager.Participates in ongoing quality improvement / accreditation activitiesParticipate in local, state, and national professional organizationsCoordination of Health Services
Provide medical consultation and triage to students; assess acute and chronic illnesses; order / conduct laboratory services; administer immunizations and tuberculin skin tests; etc. Provides educational materials for student self-care.Dispense medications to students as needed. Prescribe authorized physician standing protocols, manage and supervise medication treatment for acute and chronic illnesses.Refer students to appropriate community medical services as needed. Consult with and refer to community health care providers and specialists to establish continuity of care.Develop and implement health education and promotion programs, consultations, educational materials and interventions on a range of health issues.Collaborate with faculty, staff, agencies, and community members on programming, consultations, to collect and update medical data for students, etc.Collaborate with Disability Support Services to meet the physical / medical needs of students with disabilities.Collaborate with Counseling Services to meet the emotional / mental needs of students in crisis.Collaborate with local health care providers for referrals, education, and health promotion.Collaborate with supervisor and La Crosse County Health Department to ensure distribution of state-mandated required health information.Serve as a member of the PROMISE committee, Wellbeing Coalition, the Health Advisory committee, and other university committees as interest dictates.Assist in the development and implementation of campus health-related emergency and crisis intervention procedures.Serve as a university representative on local community and governmental health-related coalitions, advisory councils, and commissions.Prepare and manage goals, policies, and departmental budget.Maintain complete, accurate, and updated records.Manage data collection, assessment, and reporting requirements.Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate departmental employees.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Maintain an inventory of medical supplies, including over the counter and prescription medication, first aid / emergency supplies.Stock, distribute, and maintain campus first aid kits in collaboration with the Emergency Response Team.Maintain student health and immunization records.Maintain standards outlined by the American College Health Association.Ensure compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.Remain current with developments in nursing, health, wellbeing and health education.Scholarly work
