Description :
Reporting to the Packaging Engineering Manager, the Packaging Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams and will provide input on structural designs, material specifications, feasibility analysis, manufacturing instructions, and time / cost standards of proposed packaging solutions.
Requirements :
- Define packaging materials and develop packaging design requirements
- Provide technical support with packaging concepts, materials, and feasibility and supplier accountability.
- Evaluate packaging according to accepted industry test specifications, rules and requirements to validate effectiveness and DOT shipping compliance and structural integrity.
- Provide trouble-shooting support related to packaging production issues.
- Responsible for management of change including customer changes, Spray Product changes, regulatory changes and vendor changes.
- Develop BOMs in support of shop floor manufacturing
- Maintain hazardous package certifications and compliance
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations, including proposed and final rules and communicate same as required.
- Responsible for carrying out company policy and initiatives.
- Design and develop primary and secondary packaging for aerosol products (cans, boxes, labels, overpacks)
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and item records for finished goods and packaging components.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to ensure accurate ERP entries for all product configurations.
- Track and implement changes to packaging specifications, labels, and component specs.
- Review technical drawings and ensure alignment with ERP records and manufacturing instructions.
- Work cross-functionally with purchasing, QA, and production to validate packaging data.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for labeling and packaging materials.

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Four-year college degree in Packaging Engineering or a similar engineering discipline or at least 3+ years industry experience relevant to consumer product packaging.Familiar with manufacturing chemical plant operationsStrong computer skills including applications routinely used for managing and editing labels and customer artwork (TOPS, Nice, AI, and EPS files)Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Excel and AccessInterpersonal skills to collaborate at various technical levels, with individuals in other business functions, and with the potential to function in a supervisory role.Ability to work independently and as part of a teamStrong project management and delivering resultsExcellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and analytical skillsBackground in commercialization of productsAbility to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers in order to understand packaging requirementsPreference given to individuals with experience in core system / ERP (Deacom and Deacom reporting tools)WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position will perform most job duties in an office environment where using a computer, software applications, etc. are essential.
